The next morning was Friday.

By the moon goddess, how I loved Fridays. Not because of anything special happening, but because it meant the weekend was coming. Time to rest. Time to be with Derrick and Ava without the chaos of work breathing down my neck. Time to be... human again.

Speaking of Derrick, his final surgery was scheduled for tomorrow.

And maybe... maybe it was selfish, but a part of me was glad Rafael wasn't around to make my life harder. At least this time, I could be with my son without anyone demanding anything else from me.

Waking up at the hospital that morning, seeing Derrick...
