Jace POV

Ann looked at me, surprised.

“She lied.” I replied. The words came out of my mouth even before I thought about it. My voice was sharp, colder than I intended, and my blood was already boiling.

“I never said that, Ann,” I snapped, glaring at Mia. “I never said I’d kill her. She’s twisting it.”

I hated the fact that Mia lied against me to my face but Mia just stood there, all wide-eyed and calm like she was innocent. I tried to understand why she did that.
