"Stay," they almost cried in unison, and I was amused at the pleading in all their eyes. Guess I'd made an impression.
"Okay," I said, relenting easily again. I didn't really listen into the conversation, but I made sure I sat so I was facing the doorway, watching anyone who walked in. Adriana knew what I was doing, at least, ensuring she sat furthest away from the door, closest to me, so I could cover her if necessary. The girls talked about a myriad of topics, some of them interesting, but most of them not. There was no missing they were close friends, though, and had likely known each other...
