I told my kids to wait in the car, so I could tell Mateo that we were leaving. Well, at least that was what I told myself but in reality, I just wanted to see him one more time before he left for Miami.

I walked upstairs to his room slowly but before I knocked on the door I heard some sounds coming from the room and I was left startled.
