It was now 11:00 p.m. and I was back in bed, reading. The room was dark, lit only by my bedside lamp. I didn’t hear from Mr. Deangelo today but I know he called the children. I heard him on the phone to Mia and Diego earlier. Part of me had been a little disappointed that he never calls me. I could not bring myself to understand why he would be so off with me. He had even called most of the pack at least once, all except me. I blew out a deep breath and shuffled around on the bed, annoyed at myself for no reason.
