I stared down at Alexander, my chest tight to the point where I couldn't breathe. Seeing him hurt like this wasn't exactly how I thought I would be spending my night. He was badly hurt, and not just physically but emotionally. I knew the emotional pain outweighed the physical.

“You laced the knife with wolfsbane,” he breathed, his hand still pressed to the wound. The bleeding had stopped, but the wound was still wide open.
