"She'll come," Riley said quietly, but he didn't sound convinced about what he was saying. It was almost like he was trying to convince himself more than he needed to convince us.

"She's probably just busy."

"Sweetheart, it's almost ten o'clock," I continued, gently touching his shoulders gently as I tried to explain it to him.

"The hospital doesn't allow visitors to come on to see their loved ones after hours. Even if she wanted to come back tonight, they wouldn't let her in until morning."
