The gravel crunched beneath my shoes as I stumbled to a stop, it was nothing compared to the sting of his words.
Malakai stood at the edge of the courtyard archway, his dark hair disheveled, his broad chest heaving as if he had just run a marathon. His eyes burned into mine, filled with a rage that practically shook through the air between us.
