“Yes,” Ava said again, through a wide smile. “I will marry you.”
The moment those words left her lips, the rooftop exploded with cheers. Fireworks still cracked in the sky, but they were nothing compared to the sound of everyone clapping, shouting, and celebrating around them. Damien pulled her into his arms, spinning her slightly. He kissed her deeply, like he needed her breath to live.
June was the first to reach them, hugging Ava like a sister.
“Congratulations,” she said, wiping a tear from her cheek. “I’m so happy for you. You deserve this. Both of you.”
