Everyone except Alice spent the entire day looking for Heather and asking if anyone else had seen her. Alice stayed with Laurie.

After a while of awkward silence, Alice had to ask the question, "Why? Why did you do it Laurie?"

Laurie just kept staring out the window while she responded. "I don't know. I knew I should have told her. I was just afraid she'd get mad and not want to come down here. I thought I could just wait it out and that things might go back to normal when we got back. I know she doesn't think much of my dad, but he's really a decent person....
