Celine squirmed softly, her body still feeling tired after a warm night with Nico. But when her hand felt the side of the bed, where Nico should have been, there was only the coldness of empty sheets.
Her brow furrowed.
"Nico?" she muttered half-consciously.
She looked at the digital clock on the bedside table. Three o'clock in the morning.
Why wasn't Nico there? Where had he gone?
A bad feeling started to come over her. She got up, grabbed her cell phone on the table, and immediately made a video call to Nico's number.
The dial tone sounded several times. There was no answer.
