“It went well,” I replied, trying to restore peace between us. “I informed the elders about you, and they’re excited to meet you.”

“Really?” she asked, her eyes filled with happiness.

“Yes, they already like you even without having met you yet.”

“I can’t wait to meet your people,” she cheered.
