I sighed and ignored his question, continuing to work on his suit. Over the last few weeks, Mark and I had settled into a platonic, business-partner relationship, but beneath all the formality and professionalism, something simmered between us. Neither of us acknowledged it, which was why I usually avoided spending too much time with him, especially alone. Now, I just wanted to finish as soon as possible and leave.

But I should have known he wouldn't back down. Mark was never the type to shy away or give up.

"I asked you a question," he said flatly.
