I raise my hands in frustration, feeling a bit upset that she would think I had done something to her mother. "I did not do anything at all. I knocked, and when she answered, she fainted," I shouted.

I felt anxious. I was not pleased that Ava made assumptions, and I certainly did not appreciate her mother addressing me with the wrong name before fainting. Perhaps she was a bit perplexed or something similar? That was the only alternative explanation.
