It's been three days.
Three days since the car pulled out of the driveway with Tara in the back seat, one hand on her belly and the other pressed to the window like she was already counting down to when she’d come back. I stood on the porch longer than I should have, watching the taillights disappear and feeling the house turn colder and smaller the second she was gone.
