We slowly reached his house and stopped in front of the door. He lifted his hand and carefully opened it. My heart thudded in dread, and my hand tightened its hold over the weapon. A part of me was afraid he was just trying to lure me into a trap, but the other knew he wouldn't have tried to run away if that was the case.
The door slid, opening a fairly good view of the space inside.
