For a moment, nothing happened. Vera just stared at him with a blank, frozen gaze, like her mind was trying to process what she had just heard.

Cassian watched it happen with a smirk. He watched as the denial first flickered past her expression before quickly turning into confusion, and then slowly, becoming realization.

Her breathing changed and her eyes widened,

“No…” she whispered, shaking her head in disbelief, “No, that’s not possible, he wouldn’t.”
