Vera’s POV

By the time the car pulled into the estate, I was completely exhausted. Not physically, but emotionally. The entire day had been a roller-coaster of emotion. Ever since I had stepped into the top floor earlier in the morning, I had felt like I was walking through a raging battlefield… in heels.

I still did not understand how our documents had been leaked. And it didn’t help that I could feel the suspicious stares from some of the executives during our board meetings.

Even some of the employees were flashing me fake smiles while whispering behind my back. And somehow, despite all of that, the thing bothering me...
