I tried placing one foot in front of the other, testing my balance without those damn crutches, when I heard Chris’s voice echo down the hospital ward hallway.

“Bro, stop. Your still a full–time vegetable.” I snorted, and he added, “Don’t break the remaining bones you have.”

I turned, smirking despite the painful pull in my thigh. “Hi to you too, Chris.”

He came over, rolling his siren eyes casually at me “How do you feel?”

“I feel like tomorrow needs to come faster,” I said, taking another careful step. “I want to get discharged and get out of this place.”
