Sophie shook her head as she gave her father an apologetic look.

“Actually, I think I will stay for a bit longer…at least until mum comes back upstairs,” she replied.

“You know, I haven’t seen mum in quite a while now.” She added quietly, biting her lower lip uncertainly as she glanced downward. “I…want to know how she’s doing.”

He let out a soft sigh before giving her a gentle smile. “Alright, then,” he said softly, his voice laced with worry. “If you want to stay, that’s fine.”

“Thank you, Dad.” Sophie replied gratefully.

“Of course. Now go upstairs and get some rest, okay? I’ll bring breakfast up to you...
