The lobby was almost empty. Only one person was sitting behind the reception desk, reading a book and sipping from an oversized mug of coffee. He looked up as Max entered and gave him an uneasy smile.

"Hi."

Max nodded his head and walked over to the elevator. Once he was in, he pressed the button for the tenth floor. "Good morning."

The man replied with a polite 'good morning', although his voice sounded slightly strained. He then asked,

"Are you ready to go?"

Max nodded. "Yes."
