"I'm okay," she mumbles. He kisses her forehead lovingly before setting her down on the couch again.

"Let's go sleep," he suggests. She smiles.

"Alright," she agrees. The two of them climb under the covers and lay facing each other. She curls into his side and rests her head on his shoulder. Mike wraps his arm tightly around her and presses his lips against her temple.

"Thank you," she whispers. "For everything."

"Anything for you, beautiful," he whispers back.

The following morning, Max wakes up first. She yawns widely and stretches out her arms. A smile spreads across her face as she realizes that no pain has returned to her...
