I smiled at her enthusiasm. “Let’s hope it’s waiting for us in one of these streets.”
Freddy slid his hands into his pockets, his gray eyes scanning the rows of storefronts ahead.
“We’ll take our time,” he said. “I want you to find something perfect.”
I squeezed his arm in silent gratitude before turning my attention to Sandy. “How are you holding up, little man?”
Sandy grinned. “I like it here. Can we get croissants first?”
Mercy laughed. “Kid’s got his priorities straight.”
Freddy smirked. “There’s a café around the corner. Let’s start there.”
