As I woke up, I heard a commotion on the deck above me. I swung my legs off the bed and made my way to the deck where I saw Mia and several other crew members huddled around the bow of the ship, staring intently at the land in the distance.

 

"Ava, take a look!" Mia called out, pointing towards the land. "We're almost there!"

 

She turned to me with a huge smile, her eyes sparkling with a mix of trepidation and joy.

 

"I can't believe it," she exclaimed, "We've finally made it! After all these weeks, all those time at sea, we're finally here!"
