“Hi, Alex! How come you’re here?” She couldn’t hide the excitement in her voice. She stood up as they pulled each other into a side hug.
He was the only person she knew here, so she suddenly felt relieved.
“I mean, I was invited,” he said with laughter in his voice as they separated.
The real question was, how was she here? He didn’t expect to see her.
“And you?” he asked curiously.
Aria’s forehead creased. “Well, I was invited too,” she replied honestly. “But to really answer your question, I don’t know what I’m doing here either,” she added in a tiny voice, like they were gossiping.
