The moonlight poured in like liquid silver, bathing everything in a cold, peaceful glow that didn’t quite reach the unease in my chest. I stood at the balcony of our private chambers, watching mist snake between the pine trees surrounding the estate. Behind me, I could hear the faint rustle of blankets and the even breathing of Gannon, my mate, my partner in this war we didn’t ask for.
But we were no longer just heirs.
We were leaders.
And we were being hunted.
