“Don’t forget your adapter, O’Neal.”

His voice catches me off guard.

I look up from my planner, half-expecting him to barge in and make a scene like the old days. But Reo’s just standing by the elevator, holding a small pouch. My charger adapter. The one I misplaced yesterday.

“Thanks,” I say slowly, stretching out my hand. He doesn’t brush against my fingers like he used to. He just drops it gently into my palm and steps back. Like I’m holding fire and he doesn’t want to get burned.
