Reo says it like it’s nothing. Like it’s air. But his voice is low. And it’s not shaky. It’s dark. Honest.

The limo is cold. Too cold. And my knees are pressed tight together, but my chest? My chest won’t stop trembling.

He’s sitting across from me, elbow on the window, tie undone, face blank. And yet his words seem to choke me.
