The quote punches Reo right in the gut.
He’s laying on the chaise in the corner of the penthouse library, a book splayed open in his lap. The Emotionally Secure Child. The title alone makes him feel like a fraud.
The pages are filled with diagrams and phrases he doesn’t even think in…things like “gentle reinforcement,” “emotional safety,” and “trust-based parenting.” Every second paragraph seems to mock him.

He exhales sharply through his nose. That’s rich. What is he supposed to do…sing...
