Leo mutters it to himself as he pulls open the antique cabinet in his mother’s old study. He isn’t even sure what he’s looking for. Maybe just distraction. Maybe those old investor files Blair asked about from the family mansion. Maybe a reason to stop thinking about Jennie’s eyes during dinner.
He rummages through aged jacket folders, the ones with brittle corners and Cuss Family Holdings watermarks. The air smells like dried ink and something colder. Regret? Old perfume?
