I stand beside her, one arm brushing hers. Our fingers are barely touching on the rail. The moon glows so soft, it almost feels shy. The wind is still, like it knows peace is finally allowed here. And for the first time in a very, very long time… I don’t feel like I’m chasing anything.

Jennie’s eyes drift sideways to me. She doesn’t speak. She just waits. She always waits when it matters.
