Adele’s voice drips into the air like something spoiled. Sweet. But sour underneath.
Reo exhales through his nose and rubs the bridge of it too. His head pounds. The sunlight creeps through the glass walls of his penthouse study, but there’s nothing warm about it today.
He turns slowly from the desk. “Get to the point, Adele.”
She doesn’t flinch. Of course she doesn’t. She just stands there by the bookshelf, arms crossed in that little silk robe like she belongs in here. Like she belongs anywhere near truth.
