Suddenly they heard the movement of legs outside. Reyes' eyes locked onto Christine's, and he mouthed "be quiet" to her. Christine nodded, holding her breath.
"Sir, we couldn't find Mr Reyes anywhere in the house," the secretary said. "The guards reported to Mister Thompson that he's not in his office or his bedroom."
Christine's eyes widened as she realized that Sage's father had been waiting in the room all this while. No wonder Reyes hadn't moved much, and the air in the wardrobe still felt thin. Christine's heart was racing as she wondered if the sound of their breathing had been caught by Sage's father's ears.
Reyes' eyes never left...
