Veronica’s POV

We had just walked a few minutes, maybe three, when we saw the first mutant. And then two others with it.

Darwin and Jed shot first, taking them down. The drugs in the vial was very effective and not one of the mutants made to move again. We kept going killing as many men and mutants as we could. We seemed to be nearing the end, we are winning this fight.

I put my foot in my mouth again.

The entire facility was plunged into darkness.
