The door flew open and a tall woman with a wolf cut that had somehow been blown into her face rushed in. Alyssa was every bit as Veronica described her, and seeing her rush so much just so she could get here in time confirmed to me that she really did care about Veronica, and I was relieved a bit that she now had someone like that in her life.

“Darwin.” she said.

“You are here.” I said.

“Anything new?” she asked.

“No nothing for now, except that we can be sure she walked out of the house herself, and her car isn’t here either.” I said.
