“Can I come inside, at least?” His eyes throbbed with emotion. And when I glanced at him from head to his toes, I realized he wouldn't stop tapping the ground with it.

I sucked my teeth and deliberately gulped down the saliva in my mouth. “Okay.” I left the door open and I went to sit down in the sitting room.
