When they walked into Santa’s Cafe, Angela hollered from across the restaurant. “Welcome to Santa’s Cafe!” She hurried toward them, grabbing two menus from the wall as she headed toward the front. “Mallory! Welcome back to town!” Angela gave her a genuine smile.

“Thanks, Angela,” Mallory replied, glad that she was treating her well. But then again, Angela had always been a very good person, even in high school.

“Two for lunch?” she asked, a broad smile spread across her face.

“Yes, please,” Mallory said.

“Well, right this way!” Angela chirped.

Brock hung back a bit, nodding toward Angela. “Is she always like this?” he asked, his voice low.
