There was another knock, this time louder and somewhat agitated.
"Wh.... Who's it?" Even as she asked, her voice trembled.
The man answered, "It's the King's guard,"
and Ella got out of bed cautiously. She got to the door but didn't knock or do anything else. "Is....Is there a problem?"
She fumbled for words as she leaned in for a better look.
"You are needed in the King's private quarters. Now," and after some hesitation, she opened the door.
