“Does your girlfriend know?" I ask, unable to keep the bitterness from my voice.

My voice comes out sharper than I want it to be. "Does she approve of you touching and kissing another just so you can lure the other wolf out to hurt him?”

His eyes harden. The warmth disappears from his face. “No, she doesn't."

He picks up the fountain pen beside his laptop. "Let's get back to work.”

Just like that. The conversation is over. He resumes turning the pages of the document and scribbling on it.
