Caden POV

Is someone chasing her?

I rushed forward, looking beyond her, extending my senses in search of any troublemaker. The wolves I detect aren't close, but they're near enough for me to tell they aren't ordinary guards.

"What the hell, Mom?" I bark under my breath.

"Caden," she says breathlessly. Her cheeks are flushed. "What are you doing beyond River Howl's border?"

"That's what I should be asking you." I march over until I'm standing directly in front of her, then switch to mindlink.

'It's the middle of the night. You can't shift until the full moon. Did you forget? What if you'd run into trouble?'
