“What the hell is this, Alana?” I asked, reading an envelope that clearly said someone summoned me to Court. I didn’t even have to open it to figure out what was inside.
Alana was standing in front of me at the kitchen table sipping coffee. I skipped work, and she did, too. She didn’t want to leave me alone. “Alana, I don’t know what to do. I just received this envelope from the court and it’s a citation in my name,” I said in a panic.
“What? What does it say?” she asked.
“Gabriel is petitioning me for full custody of Maddie. The man is crazy.”
