His sadness pours right into my heart and it tightens against my chest, somehow knowing his feelings, but still not knowing it. “Why do you say so?” I manage to whisper.

“Because that’s the reality I’m living.” He scoffs. Was he getting tipsy?

I eye the almost empty bottle in front of us and sigh. I doubt it affects him though. “What happened to you?” I ask unable to stop myself again.

“She left me again.” He leans his head on his hand that was now propped on the counter and tugs his hair, messing it further. But what he said hits me....
