CORRIE

Emmette's cold gaze washed over me. His stare alone made me shiver more than in the hospital. I stared at him waiting for him to give me a reply but he looks too shocked to fathom one.

"What about your revenge? I thought we had an alliance." Emmette swallowed, looking like his world was falling apart.

"It's over." I spat, my eyes reddened as tears formed in my eyes. My voice was shaking and I hated it, that I was inferior to him.

"I-I was doing fine before you came into the picture. I'll be fine without you." I stuttered, my words barely coming out without making a stammer....
