"I told you not to come this late," William whispered as he opened the back door of his house. His eyes were sharp, scanning the surroundings.
Evelyn stepped in quietly, wearing a black coat and a face mask.
"You were the one who asked me to come."
William locked the door, then gently took her hand.
"I just don’t want them to know you’re here."
Evelyn sighed.
"How much longer do we have to keep doing this?"
"Not much longer," William replied, locking eyes with her.
"I’m going to talk to my mother about everything."
