The grand office door burst open.

“Why did you do it?!” William shouted, his voice no longer restrained.

His father, Alexander, sat calmly behind a gold-trimmed wooden desk. He didn’t look surprised—he simply raised an eyebrow and closed the document he had been reading.

“If this is about the diamond project,” he said coolly, “then sit down. You're making yourself look like a child who's lost his toy.”

William marched forward, refusing to sit.

“This isn’t a toy. This is someone’s life. And you know that!”

Alexander stood slowly, pushing his chair aside.

“I know more than you think. Including who that woman truly is.”
