I wasn’t surprised at what James just asked me. Not even a little.

I saw it coming from the very beginning, long before he even walked up to me with that desperate expression on his face. Every step he took toward me basically screamed that this moment was going to happen. And honestly, it fit perfectly into my plan — almost too perfectly, like the universe was cooperating with me for once after everything it took away back then.

Now all I had to do was turn him down. Once I did that, I would kill whatever last trace of hope he had left in saving his company....
