As the sound of the SUV’s engine faded down the gravel driveway, I lay there in the quiet cottage, clutching a pillow to my stomach. It was miserable, but there was something incredibly sweet about the image of Lucien Blackwood standing in a CVS aisle, staring in confusion at the different types of feminine products.
But the pain didn't let me think too much. It felt like someone was wringing out my insides like a wet towel. I tried to focus on my breathing, but the "what-if" game from last night felt very far away. Now, the "what-if" was what if I pass out from the pain...
