I pouted. "Fine. You’re too good at this. Your turn. And…make it hard."
Lucien went quiet. He folded his hands on the table, the candlelight highlighting the scars on his knuckles, scars from the men he’d fought to protect me.
"One," he began, his voice dropping to a low, intimate register. "I once stole a car when I was sixteen just to see how far I could drive before the security team caught me. Two: I kept every single drawing you made during our first month of marriage, even the ones you threw in the trash. Three: I’ve never been truly happy until this moment."
