“There are so many,” I whispered.

I shook my head, staring at all the patients on this hospital floor alone. There was no way that this was sustainable, no way that we’d treat all of the patients without either getting sick ourselves or having a slew of casualties.

Usually, I wasn’t like this. I had never thought this way before. I always walked into the hospital with a smile on my face and walked out of the hospital with a smile on my face … but after weeks of patient after patient, after weeks of quarantine … it was getting tough to smile.
