Hayley’s POV

The air was laden with residues, and the tension between Aiden and Ethan screamed at everyone. Though the pack eventually slinked away, there was a sort of Undertow left. I also instantly realized that right now is my chance to get through with Ethan.

Ethan stood all by himself with his shoulders hunched and eyes downcast. As boastful as he was, there was a certain fragility about him that sparked some skepticism over the notion of another way.

“Excuse me, Aiden,” I said softly. Maybe I should have a word with him.

Concern marked his face as he peered at me. "Are you sure, Hayley? He’s unpredictable."
